Yang Ming back to Slovenia
The Taiwanese carrier, with a weekly service connecting Mediterranean hubs, returns to the port of Koper, that gets also a new service from CMA CGM and the loop of ONE
A return to Slovenia for Yang Ming which has set up a new weekly service between Koper and the ports of Piraeus and Damietta; both hubs provide regular service to various destinations in the Mediterranean and the Far East.
The Taiwanese carrier – whose services in Koper are care of Neptune International Shipping d.o.o. - offers transhipment to/from the Far East through ‘The Alliance’ via two services: the Mediterranean Loop 1 (MD1) and Mediterranean Loop 2 (MD2).
Containers from Piraeus and Damietta are then transported to Koper via Adria Express (ADX) feeder service. Yang Ming’s first containers are expected in Koper this May.
Recently, CMA CGM launched a new weekly service for the East Mediterranean to offer direct connections between Koper and Levant ports.
On 26th April Contship Sun, the first vessel of the newly established Adrimed service of the French carrier, was berthed. The service includes 3 vessels of 1,000 TEUs capacity each and will connect Koper to Piraeus, Limassol, Alexandria, Beirut and Mersin. This new loop complements the extensive network of services connecting Koper with Mediterranean ports; a number of connections via Piraeus hub are possible to Far East, Middle East, India, Marmara Sea, Black Sea and Algeria.
One month ago the new Japanese alliance ONE (Ocean Network Express) started a new service connecting Koper with Piraeus and Damietta, exactly on April 1st 2018.
The new carrier, which was formed in 2017 as a joint venture between Nippon Yusen Kaisha (N.Y.K.), Mitsui O.S.K. (MOL) Lines and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K-Line), currently ranked as the 6th largest container shipping line in the world, operating more than 250 container vessels, of which currently 31 are ultra-large container ships. The services will be provided as part of The Alliance and will ensure regular weekly service between Port of Koper all major worldwide destinations through the transhipment ports of Piraeus and Damietta.
