Vitiello family is back in the dry bulk shipping
The brothers Luca and Riccardo are buying the handysize bulker Miss Simona from Unicredit Leasing
Less than two years after the sale of the harbour towage company Gesmar active in Ravenna and some other Adriatic ports, Luca and Riccardo Vitiello are on the verge to invest in dry bulk shipping again.
Some sources revealed to Ship2Shore that a newly-built Italian company controlled by the two brothers will be the buyer of the handysize bulk carrier Miss Simona which is being sold by Unicredit Leasing. Price should be in excess of $8.5m and delivery before the end of October.
This vessels was ordered and has been operated since the delivery in 2010 from Spp Shipyard by Naples-based Perseveranza di Navigazone which is now restructuring its financial exposure with the banks.
In the past century Vitiello’s father Eduardo was at the helm of a shipping company called Gecomar active also in the dry bulk business so this move would be a sort of throwback for them.
