T. Mariotti and Damen have announced the creation of a new partnership to build cruise vessels.

The partnership between the two companies is said to be “a complementary fusion of expertise and facilities that will focus on the construction of cruise vessels and will operate under a new common brand, Mariotti Damen Cruise”.

The group has major assets in the port of Genoa (in the ship repairs area, which covers a total area of 53,000 square meters with 5 drydocks) and Marseille (3 drydocks including basin n.10, the largest in the Mediterranean), and is completing the process for the concession of the port areas of Piombino (80,000 square meters).

Gorinchem, Rotterdam-based Shipyards Group, which celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2017, operates in different sectors across the maritime industry and recently announced its intention to move into the cruise market.

Damen Shipyards Group operates 34 shipbuilding and repair yards, employing 10,000 people worldwide and delivered over 6,000 vessels in over 100 countries, on average 60 vessels annually.

As the two companies made their announcement, ultra-luxury cruise line Seabourn made public the signature of a letter of intent for 2 ultra-luxury expedition vessels with newly-formed partnership.

This long-term partnership will offer our current and prospective clients access to a comprehensive suite of shipbuilding services and capabilities in terms of high quality, sustainable vessels demanded by the cruise industry of tomorrow” T. Mariotti’s Managing Director Marco Ghiglione said.
