Two key events mark the week for Global Ports Holding
Zadar Cruise Port celebrated the opening of a new passenger terminal building while Bodrum Cruise Port welcomed the first call of the year with a German cruiseship mooring
A big ceremony, attended by high dignitaries of the Republic of Croatiaalong with over 200 distinguished guests, marked the opening of a new passenger terminal building at Zadar Cruise Port, that Global Ports Holding has operated port since September 2018.
Zadar terminal building extends over 18,000 square metres on 2-storeys. As part of the event, a special session of the Zadar County Assembly was held at the building, as a part of the County Days that are being marked this month demonstrating the importance of the investment to the local community.
The terminal inauguration ceremony was attended by GPH COO, Stephen Xuereb and Zadar Port Authority CEO Robert Škifić as well as President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, Prime Minister’s Envoy Zvonimir Frka-Patešić, Assistant Minister in the Ministry of the sea, transport and infrastructure Josip Bilaver and Zadar County Prefect Božidar Longin.
“Last year we were very pleased when Zadar Cruise Port joined our global network of 15 cruise ports. The opening of the new passenger terminal marks the next step in the development of Zadar as an exciting and important cruise destination” stated Emre Sayin, CEO of Global Ports Holding.
“At the beginning of April we welcomed the first cruise ship to mark the start of this year’s cruise season. Since then, nearly 10,000 cruise passengers have passed through and experienced our facilities. We look forward to welcoming many more in the months and years ahead” commented Barbaros Özakan, Zadar Cruise Port General Manager:
Meanwhile cruise activity is also flourishing in Turkey, home to GPH.
Last week over 2,600 passengers from 27 different countries disembarking from Mein Schiff 4 kicked off the new season at Bodrum Cruise Port. This is the second year that a TUI Cruises ship starts off the season.
Named as the Best Place to Travel for Summer 2019 by Bloomberg, Condé Nast Traveler and Business Insider, Bodrum is famous for its nightlife, beach clubs that look at the aquamarine sea and the white sands. Bodrum Cruise Port has been under the Global Ports Holding umbrella since 2008. The terminal building has diverse facilities including duty free shopping areas, travel agencies and a restaurant.
