Shipping to support the Gaslini Hospital again on pedals

Third annual edition of the Genoa Shipping Ride, a non-competitive charity cycling tour

The event gathering cycling lovers within the shipping sector will be held in the Genoese Riviera during the week-end from May the 17th to the 19th.

“This is the third edition”, the organizer Angelo Merialdi explained. “We started in 2017, with our colleagues and friend of the London Law Firm Bentleys and of the Standard P&I Club. This year we will have over 40 participants, half of whom coming from London, Hamburg, Norway and Paris”.

Within the international shipping program related to similar events, “the Genoa Shipping Ride stands outs for the unparalleled beauties of our Riviera, for the friendly and non-competitive nature of the event, as well as for the attention to side events and to participants who do not cycle. Above all, thanks to our sponsors, the Genoa Shipping Ride raises funds for the Hematology department of the Gaslini Hospital”.

During the last Shipping Ride, they raised over 3,300 Euro.

“This year, we hope to do even better. All this would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, that I would like to thank: Bentleys, Cinciano, Chugoku Boat Italia, San Giorgio del Porto, Ship2Shore, Siccardi Bregante & C., The Standard, Yacht Club Italiano”, Merialdi continued before providing all the details about the three-days program. “The event will start of Friday, May the 17th, with the Pasta party at Mentelocale in Palazzo Ducale, at 7.30 p.m. On Saturday the 18th there will be a non-competitive cycle ride from Genoa to Sestri Levante, with a stop at Portofino to enjoy coffee and focaccia in the local branch of the Italian Yacht Club. Cyclists will reach Sestri Levante early in the afternoon, where they will meet their friends and supporters for a reception at the swimming pool of the Due Mari Hotel. Finally, on Sunday morning the 19th there will be an additional cycling tour in the hinterland”.
