Scorpio Bulkers according to rumours, is going to purchase a 82,000 tons capacity Kamsarmax vessel currently under construction at the Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Newyangzi.

Its purchase price should be around 25 million dollar and its expected delivery date ranges from March to April 2018. According to sources close to Scorpio Bulkers, the transaction was not concluded yet, but it is almost certain that it will be carried out in the next few days.

The Monegasque shipping company headed by Emanuele Lauro recently sold its 2015 Kamsarmax bulk carrier, renamed SBI Rumba, to a Japanese purchaser for 19.6 million dollar, with a bare boat charter back for 9.5 years with repurchase options set for the fifth and tenth year.

Other significant transactions concern two Italian shipping companies dealing with liquid bulks.

The first one is Scerni di Navigazione that, according to foreign press reports, just signed a 1 year time charter, with option for 12 more months, with trading giant Glencore for its two SN Olivia and SN Claudia ships. The daily freight rate amounts to around 16,000 dollar for the first year, and 18,000 dollar for the second one, an overall countervalue of almost 25 million dollar in case the freight actually lasted for 24 months.

Another tanker with the same capacity, Fratelli d'Amico Armatori's Mare Nostrum, was chartered for 6 months, with option for 6 more months, by Navig8 at a daily freight rate of 15,650 dollar.
