Newco Blu Jet sailed in the Strait of Messina
The passengers transport services operated by Bluferries were transferred to the new shipping company
Blu Jet, the new subsidiary of the RFI (the Italian Railway network within FS Italiane Group) incorporated to strengthen the Strait crossing system ensuring the passenger naval connection between the ports of Messina, Villa San Giovanni and Reggio Calabria, became operational on May the 1st.
The unit Tindari Jet operated the first connection for Blu Jet sailing from the port of Messina and heading towards Villa San Giovanni, thus ratifying the transfer of the passenger service from Bluferries, the other subsidiary of the Italian Ferrovie dello Stato Group dealing with maritime transport.
Besides Blu Jet for passengers, the new Strait crossing system includes also RFI’s ships for long-distance trains and Bluferries’ double-headed ships for motor vehicles and heavy units.
