MSC finds the money to finance some of its 22,000 TEUs newbuildings
The Swiss shipping group has been funded by CMB Financial Leasing and Doun Kisen for 6 containerships ordered at Samsung Heavy Industries one year ago
Leasing arrangements signed with China Merchants Bank Financial Leasing (CMBFL) and Japanese tonnage provider Doun Kisen will provide Mediterranean Shipping Company with the funds able to financing six 22,000 Teus containerships ordered at Samsung Heavy Industries in August 2017.
Fairplay reports that 4 units - Samsung hulls no. 2248, 2249, 2250, 2251 - are registered to Hong Kong-based special purpose vehicles Sea 60 Leasing Co., Ltd, Sea 61 Leasing Co., Ltd, Sea 62 Leasing Co., Ltd and Sea 63 Leasing Co., Ltd respectively, owned by CMBFL and incorporated in August 2017; 2 more units – Samsung hulls no. 2252, 2253 - are registered to Panama-based special purpose vehicle Mi-Das Line SA, controlled by Doun Kisen, a major Japan’s family-owned tonnage providers.
MSC has 5 more sisterships on order at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.
