GNV chartered a unit from Adria Ferries for the summer
The ferry AF Claudia will be operated on a time-charter basis until next September to provide connections between Genoa and Palermo
GNV, the ferry company within the MSC Group, confirmed that it chartered the ferry AF Claudia from Adria Ferries, the company belonging to the shipowner Alberto Rossi, who is active in several shipping sectors (from ship agency to bunkering) with the Frittelli Maritime Group.
GNV pointed out that the two companies entered into a "time-charter agreement expiring in September”. The unit AF Claudia will be deployed shortly “to increase the capacity on the routes to Sicily and, in particular, on the Genoa-Palermo route".
Built in 2001 by Cantieri Visentini, the 24,000 gross tonnage and 186 meters long ferry, with a capacity of 1,000 passengers (300 beds) and 2,100 linear meters of cargo, was deployed in Mexico by the local company Baja Ferries until the end of 2018, when Adria Ferries purchased it for some 45 million dollar, renaming it AF Claudia and registering it under the Italian flag.
Besides the ferries AF Francesca and AF Marina, this the third ship belonging to Adria Ferries and, immediately after its purchase, Adria Ferries Chairman Rossi had planned to charter this ro-pax to another operator since the company's operational needs were already met by its own fleet and its chartered units.
