Benetti delivered its first Giga yacht and won its first challenge
Livorno-based shipyard delivered FB275, the first yacht of the Benetti Giga Season, the new flagship of the luxury fleet built in Tuscany
The 108 meters long giga yacht FB275 – the longest vessel ever built by Benetti in its Livorno site – was delivered to its anonymous shipowner, thus officially launching Benetti’s Giga Season.
After the unit FB275, in a few weeks Benetti will deliver also the 107 meters long vessel FB277, followed by the unit FB272 to be delivered in the second half of the year.
“This is a great achievement for Benetti, for Livorno and for Italy. We delivered a masterpiece 40 days in advance”, Azimut|Benetti Group Founder and Chairman Paolo Vitelli declared.
This is a cornerstone in the history of the Italian shipyard. Featuring a steel hull and a 108 meters long aluminium superstructure, FB275 – designed by naval architect Pierluigi Ausonio – is the longest yacht ever delivered by Benetti.
The 14.5 wide unit, with 4.4 meters draught and 3,367 gross tonnage, obtained the Lloyd Certification after 4 sea trials. Featuring a 345,000 litres capacity tank and two MTU 2880 kW twin engines, this giga yacht travels at a maximum speed of 18.5 knots, with a range of 6,500 miles at 14 knots.
The new Benetti flagship features a Schottel SPJ sterndrive pump allowing it to have an exclusively electric drive.
Its external design and decorations were entrusted to the British RWD studio, while interiors – including a cinema and an outdoor fireplace – were designed by Benetti’s Interior Style Department.
From its heated swimming pool on the Main Deck, to its water toys and tenders collection, FB275 is a giga yacht designed to enjoy life onboard to the fullest. Besides 2 14 meters long tenders, 1 10 meters long custom tender and 8 jet skies, FB275 boasts over 1,000 square meters of outdoor space. From its Observation Desk, passengers can enjoy breath-taking nights under the stars, while the 1.5 meters long outdoor fireplace on the Bridge Deck is the ideal place to get warm during the night.
Its Owner Deck is equipped with an outdoor dining area and with large relax areas, while on the Main Deck there is a big table for pleasant dinners.
The luxury FB275 can accommodate up to 22 guests, as well as 29 crew members.
In order to build giga yachts, Benetti made significant investments both in terms of construction process, and in logistics terms. It created a heliport certified by ENAC (Italian Civil Aviation Authority) to favour customers’ visits, as well as two 137 by 58.5 meters warehouses equipped with 2 bridge cranes with a capacity of 40 tons in order to favour production and handling operations.
“I am very proud of the progress achieved by our shipyards. We worked hard to achieve complete efficiency with regards to both logistics and to our construction ability. The launching of 3 over 100 meters long giga yachts, built simultaneously in Livorno, in 100 days, and the delivery of the unit FB275 after only 4 months since the launching, prove our progress”, Benetti CEO Franco Fusignani declared.
