Scafi also splashed in Morocco
Safirem newco was founded to provide towage services in Scafi's new terminal after they were adjudicated a 20 year concession
Scafi, Italian shipping company providing towage services will be tackling a new international experience and not only.
The company founded in the 50s by Naples-native shipowner Salvatore Cafiero and helmed by Managing Director Paolo Visco (other BOD members are Franco Visco, Bruna Cafiero, Umberto Masucci and Gianluca Agostinelli, General Manager of the group for almost a year after a long experience at Autamarocchi), established 100% controlled Safirem.
This new company was adjuducated a 20 year concession to operate towage service in Safi-Morocco port.
The Government is in fact founding a new terminal for coal and phosphate handling, where Scafi, through Safirem, will be operating port towage services as from early 2019.
For the new service, the Italian group will deploy 3 ASD tugboats, recruiting overall 40 crew members ready to operate 24/7.
For the time being – besides other Italian ports like La Spezia (Rimorchiatori Riuniti Spezzini), Savona-Vado (Carmelo Noli) and Gioia Tauro (Con.Tug) – Scafi is already operating abroad in Rijeka and Zadar through Jadranski Pomorski Servis d.d. (JPS), taken over in late 2016.
Originally Croatia, then Morocco and maybe other potential targets within the Mare Nostrum.
