New electric yard cranes delivered to VTE
The 21 units delivered to Genova Prà terminal container will be unloaded from the ship Zhen Hua 19
VTE Voltri Terminal Europa in Genoa finally received its new ZPMC electric cranes that sailed from China on the ship Zhen Hua 19.
The electric RTGs (the first ones in the port of Genoa) were ordered by VTE (PSA Group) less than a year ago to be used for yard activities, with an investment of over 40 million euro.
PSA Sinport managing director Gilberto Danesi confirmed that quay activities will be carried out regularly despite the inconveniences caused by the collapse of the Morandi Bridge, voicing the group's resolution to start their project for the renewal of terminal cranes. “We are not having problems, and we proved it by confirming our 40 million investment related to 21 new electric yard cranes”, Danesi explained, pointing out that they could have “transferred them in other terminals worldwide belonging to their group. However, they were confirmed for VTE”.
Before entering into operation, in a couple of days, the cranes must be tested.
