MSC: hat trick in Genoa while ailing in Naples
Le Navi shipagent purchased San Benigno Trade Centre third tower while Aponte allocated 11 million euro to relaunch CONATECO terminal. GNV expected to be back to profit by 2020
Latest Financial statement issued by Marinvest, Italian holding of Gianluigi Aponte, shows the most significant events occurred in 2016, reporting that Le Navi shipagent of Genoa sealed final contract to purchase, for 21.3 million Euro plus V.A.T., San Benigno East Tower thus accomplishing a real estate investment within MSC new head-quarters in Liguria main town.
The Financial report shows 4.2 million Euro pre-tax profit and 72 million Euro invested by MSC Group in San Benigno towers.
On the other hand CONATECO containers terminal of Naples didn't achieve very positive results because, as reported in the Statement, Marinvest “is implementing a spending review which consents providing services as terminal operator granting lower costs and higher performance. Moreover, a substantial trade growth generated 12.52% increase in the number of containers handled in between 2015 and 2016”.
Besides having paid Fuskos Sgps (Cosco Group) 750,000 Euro to take over the terminal's 50% left shares, last financial year Marinvest paid overall 11.3 million Euro to CONATECO as share capital, loss coverage and loans waiver “in order to provide adequate financial instruments to enable its subsidiary group to substantially improve economic-financial performance”.
Grandi Navi Veloci is progressively upgrading overall trend, having recorded higher revenues (+ 10.9 millions) and + 12 millions Ebitda, while also pinpointing how such figures perfectly meet business plan 2016-2021 “which envisaged a steady reduction in operating losses reaching break even by 2019 and post-tax profit by 2020”.
