Moby confirmed its new investment in the towage business
During the christening of the new tug Vincenzino O, delivered by Damen, Achille Onorato pointed out that this is only the first step of a great plan
During the christening ceremony of Vincenzino O – the new tugboat recently delivered by Damen Shipyard and ready to enter into operation in the Sarroch Bay to support oil tankers at the wharf of the Saras refinery – Moby group CEO Achille Onorato confirmed that this is only the beginning of a renewal of the group’s tugs fleet.
Therefore, the tug Vincenzino O – built by the Dutch group in its Vietnamese shipyard – was “just the first step” of this investment plan, which will continue to rely on “the consolidated collaboration with Damen”.
Based on the ASD Tug 2813 project, Vincenzino O has an 85 tons bollard pull capacity, it is 28 meters long and 13 meters wide, and its Caterpillar propeller can develop a power of over 6700 HP.
This technological advanced unit is a very important addition to Moby group’s tug fleet, currently consisting of 16 units providing port towage services to the Sardinian ports of Cagliari, Sarroch, Oristano, Portovesme, Olbia, Arbatax and Porto Torres (as well as to the Puglia port of Barletta through its subsidiary San Cataldo).
“Vincenzino O is a further proof of the company’s commitment in Sardinia, which is characterized by the choice of the highest quality standards, as confirmed by the new tugboat and by the recent order placed with the Chinese Guangzhou shipyard for the two largest ro-pax units worldwide”, Achille Onorato pointed out during the ceremony held in the port of Cagliari.
Damen sales manager Antonio Marte observed that “Moby shares our vision in terms of safety, sustainability and reliability. These values represent the common grounds for a long-term collaboration”.
