María Ornella Chacón has been designated as the new president of Puertos del Estado
The appointment of María Ornella Chacón Martel as president of Puertos del Estado – to replace José Llorca - was published in the Official State Gazette on July 7.
Chacón (Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura, 1972) was graduated as an architect for the Polytechnic University of Madrid and practiced as such for several years, both in the public and private sectors. In 2011 she took possession of the act as Councilor of the Island Council of Fuerteventura assuming competences in matters of Territorial Planning until 2015. From June of that year to December 2016, she was Minister of Public Works and Transport of the Government of the Canary Islands and President of the Canary Islands Public Authority. During this period she was also part of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Puerto de la Luz and Las Palmas.
