Groupe CAT to buy STVA, subsidiary of SNCF specialised in rail transport
Groupe Cat has confirmed to buy, for an undisclosed price, rival company STVA from French state-owned SNCF, following reports of last spring to be in exclusive negotiations for the take over. The subsidiary of SNCF specialised in rail transport of vehicles generated a turnover of 320 million last year and moved 2.8 milliom new and used vehicles..
The French finished vehicle logistics provider had made further acquisitions in the past few years: Trial, Toquero, Fleetpoint, VSE, Sintax and CVT.
With STVA providing a fleet of 2,600 rail cars, 31 vehicle logistics compounds, 725 car carrying trucks and 2,000 employees, Groupe Cat has become one of the largest finished vehicle transport providers in terms of size and scope of operations.
Groupe Cat thus enjoys a fleet of 1,700 trucks and 2,600 rail wagons, 96 vehicle logistics compounds and 8,000 employees.
The French group delivered over 5 million vehicles and 766,000 tonnes of spare parts and components in 2016 generating a turnover of 1.2 billion euro.
